Good success

Some
goals have a way of exploiting every last reserved energy in a fan. I have a
bias for balls that roll slowly past the line into the net. I can watch them
over and over again. On the
other hand, my brother gets overly excited when he sees hard shots driven into the
net. "So what's the big deal?"some may ask. Soccer fans all over find great joy in describing how goals were scored. Well, interestingly enough, it's not the number of goals but how they are scored
that really matters to a majority of the fans. Explaining why in the various leagues we have top ten goals of the month e.t.c. The same applies to mathematicians or accountants; formulas and
workings gain more marks than the ultimate answers.
While
reading through Joshua chapter 1, I stumbled upon this verse, "This Book
of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day
and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.
For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
Good success? what? can one have bad success? Isn't any success
just success? It appears to me like God is describing His goal. He's got a bias
for certain shots. His favorite goal entails meditation.
The Hebrew word meditate (hagah) as used in Josh.1:8 means to mutter, to utter or to speak softly, only then will you be able to do
all that is written in it. Wow! This is quite contrary to what we consider meditation to be. We think meditation is purely about thinking. God wants us to share and speak out His word because He knows that we are more likely to do what we say than what we think. If you want to
get Him shout "goooaal!!!," that's all it will take; whisper His word
day and night. Make the shot count!
the same word 'hagah' is used in psalm 1:2. Yes! God wants us to think about His word but more importantly, He wants us to speak it. Let's make a habit of just speaking his word.
