Meaning of Salvation

What is Salvation?
In order to understand the meaning of salvation one has to consult some Old Testament texts in order to capture the context; knowing very well that the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed.
The penalty of sin is death. "The soul that sinneth, it shall die." (Ezekiel 18:2) and "for the wages of sin is death..." - Romans 6:23. However, God out of His great mercy and grace made a provision for an animal that is spotless and without blemish to die in the place of the human that has sinned as captured in (Leviticus 4:1-5:13; 6:24-30). In that way, the animal that dies in the place of the sinner, saves the sinner.
NB: there's a laying of the hand on the animal before sacrificing it symbolic of transferring by faith one's guilt on the animal and entreating God to accept the life of the innocent animal in place of his own.
Fast forward in the New Testament, John the Baptist said, "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" John 1:29. Jesus became our sacrificial lamb innocent, sinless and without blemish that would die once and for all. All we need to do in order to be saved is to believe by faith that He came and died in our place. All we need to do in order to be saved is to believe in the finished work of the cross. That He came and died in our place and on the third day He rose again. 2 Corinthians 5:21, "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."

Be blessed!!
